Advancement/Giving
Advancement (Development) is more than the implementation of fund raising programs to generate cash receipts. Advancement is relationship building and the annual fund, periodic capital campaigns, planned giving programs, and other fund raising projects help to build those relationships. Further, the act of giving is an act of involvement. Each person who gives becomes involved, to a greater or lesser degree, with the institution. Through this involvement, relationships are developed. Thus, advancement must continually educate constituents to provide them with an opportunity to become involved in the school as volunteers, as donors and as parents. It is through this education that people will understand and care, give their wisdom, share their resources, and enroll their children.

Ways to Give
William Butler Yeats wrote that, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Bishop Manogue Catholic High School has been committed to kindling that flame for more than 60 years, but we do not do it alone. We are supported by many generous donors who appreciate the value of a Catholic education and are willing to invest their time, talent and treasure in the future of our young people. Tuition alone cannot support Bishop Manogue, and ongoing fundraising is critical to our continued success. We ask that you consider one the following ways of supporting our mission:
Annual Fund: Each year an appeal is made to the Bishop Manogue community through direct mail, visits and phone calls. These vital gifts are used for a variety of pressing needs within the school, including faculty recruitment, curriculum improvement, and support of the arts, campus ministry, and tuition assistance.
Tuition Assistance: Each year, more than 25 percent of all students enrolled at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School apply for and receive tuition assistance. Each year, that number continues to grow. In the 2011 school year we provided over $355,000 in tuition assistance. This does not include merit scholarships or parish, sibling and employee discounts.
Gap Funding: Base tuition is less than 80 percent of the actual cost of educating a student at Bishop Manogue. Raising tuition to match expenses would mean that many of our families would have to give up the benefits of a Catholic education. We therefore rely on donations and other outside sources of income to cover the Gap and keep tuition costs down.
Matching Gifts: Many corporations are now willing to support private secondary education by matching your gift, often as much as two or three times your contribution. Your employer can advise you if your company has a matching gift program. Many Foundations are more likely to consider our requests if they include matching funding as well.
Legacy Giving: Leave a legacy for future generations of Bishop Manogue students. You can name Bishop Manogue Catholic High School as a beneficiary of your will, life insurance, retirement plan or charitable trust. Additional resources are available to discuss these options.
Events: Underwriting and sponsorship of events such as BASH, or the Miner Golf Classic serve to defray the school's expenses of producing these fundraising events. Your contributions are fully tax deductible. Bishop Manogue fundraising events include: BASH (Building A Scholastic Heritage,) the Jim Williams Miner Golf Classic, an Annual Athletics Fund raiser and others sponsored by the Parents Association.
