All Diocesan Schools Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima TODAY, February 1st. Mass will begin at 10:30 am and all families and community members are welcome.

Meet Melissa Ohden – ABORTION SURVIVOR
And living testament to the blessing of adoption!!
In 1977, Melissa miraculously survived an abortion procedure and was adopted into a loving family. She gives a face to the millions of lives lost through abortion and the impact it has on future generations.
Parents are also invited to come hear her share her powerful story as she brings a message of hope, healing, and forgiveness to the students of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School.

The BMCHS Ambassador program is now underway. If you love being a Miner, this program is for you. Student ambassadors are the faces of Bishop Manogue who are willing to share their Miner pride. They will attend grade and middle school visits, give campus tours, host events, and help new and transfer students adjust to life here at BMCHS. We are now accepting applications for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. Please see Mrs. Huggins in B202 if you are interested. Don’t delay; the last day to apply is THIS FRIDAY, February 3rd.

Attention Juniors!!!
There is an opportunity to participate in a Multimedia Boot Camp held at UNR from June 11-21. The two week camp will offer rigorous instruction by the UNR faculty in a wide range of media and research activities. Instruction will take place in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and will provide students and access to and training in a full range of multimedia equipment and software. The Boot Camp graduate that exhibits the greatest potential will be named a Smallwood Foundation Scholar and awarded a one year $2,500 Undergraduate Assistantship to attend UNR. In addition, the student will be given a paid job in @One, the Knowledge Center’s multimedia area, during their undergraduate career at UNR. BMCHS can only nominate one student for this experience. Interested juniors need to sign up on Ms. McClintock’s door.

BAND NEWS!
Move over American Idol! Good luck to Ryan Canoy and Sofia Chiavini who are currently auditioning for their respective Nevada All-State Ensembles. Ryan and Gwen DePolo will also represent Manogue on Sat., Feb. 4th at 7 pm in the WCSD Honor Orchestra at North Valleys high school. AND on Wed., Feb. 29 at 7 pm, our own Emily Walsh will play in WCSD Honor Band at Pioneer Center Downtown Reno. We are proud of our talented musicians!
There is still time to come out to the varsity basketball games and buy a ticket for the Band’s Best Seat in the House. Proceeds help the band travel to playoffs and state with our athletic teams!

ACCREDITATION UPDATE
We are very close to the end of our Accreditation Process. On Wed., Feb. 29 at 1:15 pm in the Student Community Center, the Visiting Team will present our final Accreditation Report, outlining their findings and recommendations. We invite the entire school community—parents, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and board members—to attend this important event. Hooray for snow! Our ski team finally hit the hill and had a very successful first race! The boys finished in 2nd place behind Wooster. (Stephen Osborne 5th, John Tillis 6th, Logan Williams 9th , Hunter Pitts 14th, Blake Smith 18th, Austin Rottman 25th, Randy Tapia 62nd) The girls finished fourth after Wooster, Reno, and Galena AND had the winning skier, Natalie Williams (Natalie Williams 1st , Alex Banales 4th, Ellie Smith 28th, Sofia Chiavini 31st, Emily Walsh 36th, Morgan Leppla 43rd.) Congratulations to all the skiers!
On Wed., Feb. 8 at 5:30 there will be a mandatory Track & Field parent-athlete meeting in the Student Community Center. This meeting is for all interested in participating in Track this spring to discuss the schedule, expectations, uniforms, etc. You can also meet the coaches and get your questions answered. You have the opportunity to win $500 or $250 if your essay is selected. All final essays are due to Ms. McClintock no later than Friday, February 17th. The top four essays will be submitted to the University of Portland to be reviewed.
