Due to the change in the half day schedule, there will be no Lenten Mass TOMORROW, March 2.
Students will go to 3rd period during the time allotted for Centered Learning/Activity.
Attention Students!! Aly’s Prom Closet Information!!
Aly’s Prom Closet will be open from March 3 thru April 28 to students who have a demonstrated need for Prom Attire. It is located on the 2nd floor in the Shopper’s Square Shopping Center. Hours will be: Tues. & Thurs: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturdays: noon – 4 p.m. Qualified students will receive a prom dress, shoes, jewelry or standard tuxedo rental at no cost to the student. This program was created in memory of one of our Bishop Manogue graduates, Aly Christiansen. Please see Mrs. Jaureguito ASAP if you are interested. All requests are confidential.
ALSO: if you have any “gently used” gowns that you would like to donate to Aly’s Prom Closet, please bring them to either Mrs. Paine or Mrs. Jaureguito in the Main office.
Theater & Variety Show Auditions!!
Auditions for the play “The Actor’s Nightmare” will be held on Wednesday March 7 at 4:30pm in the music room. Auditions will consist of reading from the script, and participating in improvisations and games. The play is a comedy, and needed are three females and three males who have good comic ability, and strong voices. The play will be directed by Janet Lazarus, and rehearsals will mostly be on Fridays.
Also during the month of March we will be holding auditions for the Spring Variety show. This is open to musicians, actors, dancers, comedians. You will need to prepare 4-7 min of material for the auditions. Signups for both play auditions and variety show auditions will be posted outside the music room door. See Mr. Satalick if you have any questions.

Notre Dame is offering a summer conference on the Notre Dame Campus for any high school student who is interested.
WHAT: Notre Dame Vision focuses on our call to live fully in Christ and they will do this through large group experiences, small group exercises, liturgies, and music.
WHEN: There are multiple dates that we can sign up for in June and July. If you are interested, please come into Campus Ministry and sign up and we will all gather together and choose a date as one.
The Cost: $300/person if we sign up before April 1st!

Those Juniors and Seniors who need to take these tests will be notified. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. For those students not testing, class begins at 11:00 a.m. Please refer to your student planner for details.

There is an opportunity to participate in a Multimedia Boot Camp held at UNR from June 11-21. The two week camp will offer rigorous instruction by the UNR faculty in a wide range of media and research activities. Instruction will take place in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and will provide students and access to and training in a full range of multimedia equipment and software. The Boot Camp graduate that exhibits the greatest potential will be named a Smallwood Foundation Scholar and awarded a one year $2,500 Undergraduate Assistantship to attend UNR. In addition, the student will be given a paid job in @One, the Knowledge Center’s multimedia area, during their undergraduate career at UNR. BMCHS can only nominate one student for this experience. Interested juniors need to sign up on Ms. McClintock’s door.

REVISED SCHEDULE FOR WED., FEB. 29! Wednesday, February 29th, 2012Due to inclement weather there will be a delayed the start today, February 29, and the following schedule will go into effect:
The school day will start at 9:30 am and the school day will end at 12:45pm.
School was originally scheduled to end at 12:15 pm today in anticipation of the Accreditation Final Review. The school day will now end at 12:45pm and the Final Review start time will remain at 1:15pm as originally scheduled. The Review will be held in the Student Community Center.
The revised delayed start academic schedule for today is as follows:
- Period 1 9:30 to 10:15
- Period 2 10:20 to 11:05
- Period 5 11:10 to 11:55
- Period 4 12:00 to 12:45
Today there will be no Break or Lunch because of the length of the school day. Period 3 will be rescheduled for Friday in the time slot allotted for Late Activity. Therefore, on Friday, March 2, students will report to their Period 3 class as opposed to Centered Learning.

- Emily Walsh will be performing with the WCSD Honor Band the Wed., evening, Feb. 29 at 7:00 pm at the Pioneer Center
- Sarah Johnson and Sofia Chiavini both recently earned Superior Ratings for their performance at the Regional Nevada Music Educators Solo and Ensemble Contest
- Sofia Chiavini also has been selected to perform in the Nevada All State Choir down in Las Vegas. Sofia was also a member or the WCSD Honor Choir in the fall

Training, and pizza, will be provided for all volunteers

THIS WEEK AT BMCHS
The next Parent’s Associations meeting will be tomorrow, Feb. 28 at 6:30 pm in the Student Community Center. All are welcome and you can access the agenda here.
There will be minimum day (12:15 release) on Wed., Feb 29. That same afternoon, the School’s final Accreditation Report will be presented at 1:15 pm. All are invited to attend.
NIAA Drug and Alcohol meetings will be held on Wed., Feb 29 and Mon., Mar. 5 at 5:30 pm in the Student Community Center. Spring athletes and a parent must attend one of these meetings if they have not already done so for a fall or winter sport.
Thurs., March 1 will be a Free Dress Day for students who make a $5 donation to the Diocese of Reno Scholarship.
Junior Parent Night is Thurs., March 1 at 6pm in the Student Community Center. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents, as we will provide important information on preparing for the college application process.

UPCOMING DATES
Proficiency testing for sophomores, and juniors and seniors who need retakes, will occur on March 5, 6 and 8. Testing students will begin the exams at 8 am. Those who are not testing will begin school at 11 am on those days. Consult the student planner for details.
Manogue’s Future Business Leaders of America club is holding a movie night fundraiser on Friday, March 9—dinner and a movie for $5. Watch for more details.
High Sierra Lacrosse will hold its annual Jamboree at Bishop Manogue on Saturday, March 10 from 9 am to 2 pm. Come discover America’s oldest game.
Notre Dame Club of Northern Nevada invites the Manogue community to its Winter Blues Dinner and Mass on Sunday, March 11 at 5 pm. Mass in Christ the Teacher Chapel will be followed by cocktails and dinner in the Student Community Center. Cost is $45/person. RSVP by March 2 to Club Treasurer Nicole Browne at ntb4@alumni.nd.edu to reserve your spot. An invoice will be emailed with the ability to pay via PayPal. No payments will be accepted at the door.

Sara Shoen and Mackenzie Fuller represented Bishop Manogue at this weekend’s State basketball tournament as part of All State Cheer team. This team is comprised of top seniors from every high school in Nevada, and requires a lot of hard work and commitment. Good job, girls!
STUDENT-ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP OPORTUNITY
Bishop Manogue will be selecting one male and one female senior to the considered for the NIAA Top Ten Student-Athlete of the Year. This award, which includes a $1500 scholarship, is given to top high school athletes in the state who participated in multiple sports, other school activities, and community service while at the same time maintaining high academic status. Seniors who would like to apply should download the application here, complete Part I (application) and Part II (essay), and return the application to Bishop Manogue Athletic Director Larry Rumball. Mr. Rumball will complete parts III and IV of the application. The deadline to submit the application to Mr. Rumball is Thursday March 1, 2012.

SENIORS!
If you are still missing hours from any of your previous years, the Reno PD is looking for volunteers to help them conduct phone surveys on the following dates:
TODAY, Feb. 27, 5 pm to 9 pm
TOMORROW, Feb 28, 5 pm to 9 pm
Sessions will take place at the Dispatch Center of the Regional Public Safety Training Facility, 5190 Spectrum Blvd in Reno (off Parr Blvd.)
Training, and pizza, will be provided for all volunteers
IF you are interested, please come see Ms. Kehoe in Campus Ministry. NOTE: These cannot be used for THIS year’s senior hours—they may only be used as make up hours for the years’ past.
Notre Dame is offering a summer conference on the Notre Dame Campus for any high school student who is interested.
WHAT: Notre Dame Vision focuses on our call to live fully in Christ and they will do this through large group experiences, small group exercises, liturgies, and music.
WHEN: There are multiple dates that we can sign up for in June and July. If you are interested, please come into Campus Ministry and sign up and we will all gather together and choose a date as one.
The Cost: $300/person if we sign up before April 1st!

FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE:
Junior Parent Night has been rescheduled for THIS Thurs., March 1 at 6 p.m.
This is a change from the original date of Feb. 16. The change was made to avoid conflict with the Girls Regional Basketball playoffs. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
Attention Juniors!!!
There is an opportunity to participate in a Multimedia Boot Camp held at UNR from June 11-21. The two week camp will offer rigorous instruction by the UNR faculty in a wide range of media and research activities. Instruction will take place in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and will provide students and access to and training in a full range of multimedia equipment and software. The Boot Camp graduate that exhibits the greatest potential will be named a Smallwood Foundation Scholar and awarded a one year $2,500 Undergraduate Assistantship to attend UNR. In addition, the student will be given a paid job in @One, the Knowledge Center’s multimedia area, during their undergraduate career at UNR. BMCHS can only nominate one student for this experience. Interested juniors need to sign up on Ms. McClintock’s door.
Seniors!!!
You should be ready to submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) after the New Year. Even if you don’t think you will qualify for student aid, most scholarships require this. Please start your process on www.fafsa.gov

Softball Information:
Softball will work out tonight at Brett’s Softball from 7:00 til 9:00 pm.
Swim Team Information:
Practice begins THIS evening: 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Double Diamond Athletic Club. Dry land on Tuesdays and Thursdays at school from 2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in front of gym. Wednesdays are in the evenings at Double Diamond following same pre-season schedule. Please go to our website after 4 p.m. today for any updates.
Track & Field Information
Track has begun! Practices are Monday – Thursday from 3:00 – 5:15. TODAY, February 27 practice will be in the Main Gym.
Boys Golf Information:
There will be an informational meeting TOMORROW, February 28 at Trevino Golf Institute’s Indoor Facility at 5390 Riggins Ct. Ste. D from 4 – 5 p.m.
Following the meeting, there will be qualifying; times & courses TBD.
Please pick up information sheet in the Main Office.
The School’s final Accreditation Report will be presented at 1:15 pm in the Sutdent Community Center. All are invited to attend.
