Bishop Manogue Catholic High School
Educating Through Faith, Leadership, Knowledge, and Compassion
THIS WEEK AT BMCHS
Memorial Day is TODAY, May 28—No School!
Finals begin Tuesday, May 29. Check the Student Planner for the schedule. Some classes do not require a final. Student who are in Yearbook, Newspaper Enrichment, Study Skills, or who serve as TAs do not need to report for finals in these classes WHEN THEY FALL AT THE BEGINNING OR END OF THE DAY. However, since we are a “closed campus,” students are not allowed to leave during the school day, finals or not. Therefore, if Enrichment, TA, Study Skills, etc. courses are during the 2nd or 5th periods, students must report to that class and may not leave campus.
A Pre-Finals “Panic Mass” will be offered on Tues. at 7:15, right before the start of finals. Prayer is usually more effective than an additional half-hour of cramming!
There will be a Safe and Sober planning committee meeting on Tuesday, May 29 at 3:30 pm. Also on Tuesday, May 29, there will be a mandatory meeting for parents who have signed up to chaperone for Safe and Sober, or for parents who would like to chaperone. This meeting will be at 7 pm. Parents can earn as many as 14 service hours by volunteering for this event. Please contact Kathy Garrett at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
On Wednesday, May 30, we will honor National Merit Finalist Sarah Johnson and Presidential Scholar Rebecca Doyle at the fourth annual “Nevada Scholars Signing Day.” Reminiscent of a high school athlete’s signing day, this event acknowledges top students who will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno. Please join us to support these outstanding scholars!
On-campus book buy-backs through our new book vendor ESCO will be Thurs., May 31 from 11 am to 3 pm and Fri., June 1 from 10 am to 2:30 pm in the Student Community Center. All books must be turned in at the same time, and this this will be the only opportunity to sell your books back on campus—after June 1, you will have to mail books to ESCO for credit. For more details, and a list of books that will bought back this year, click here.
Baccalaureate Mass and Dinner is Thursday, May 31.
Seniors will have Graduation practice on June 1. They should report to the school parking lot at 9:45 for the panoramc picture, and practice will begin at 10 am
Graduation is June 2 at 10 am. Congratulations to the Class of 2012!
Diocese of Reno Family Day at the Reno Aces will be July 28. Get details here!

EXCITING FOOD SERVICE CHANGES
Manogue has entered into a new food service vendor relationship Roundabout Catering. Roundabout will be offering a fresh and healthy approach to lunch and snacks and increasing our students’ food options.
Colin Smith chef and owner of Roundabout says, “We are really looking forward to a great year at BMCHS, we will start with a new salad bar, expanded grab and go sections , smoothies, and our very own fountain drinks. We are going to increase the healthy food options.”
Our faculty and staff will get an opportunity to sample some of Roundabout’s offerings at a year-end lunch on June 4th at 11:30. We wanted to reach out to our families and students now to let them know of this change well in advance and to encourage everyone to try them out when we return from summer break in August.
UNIFORM POLICY FOR NEXT YEAR
By now you should have all received the school’s letter regarding next year’s uniform policy. You can access it here, if you’d like to refer back to it.
