UPCOMING DATES

Student Parking Permits will be issued today at the Attendance Window: seniors, 8am to 9:30 am; juniors,  9:30am  to 11am; sophomores, 11am to 12pm; all students, 12 pm to 2pm. Students will need a driver’s license and current vehicle registration to reserve a space.

Junior-Senior Parent Orientation will be Aug. 8, and the Freshman-Sophomore Parent Orientation will Aug 9.  Both take place from 6 pm to 7:30 pm in the Main Gym. There will also be an ILC Parent Meeting on Aug. 9 from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Freshman and New Student Orientation will be August 10, 8 am to 1pm.  Students will be given tours, play games, and meet new classmates. The day will conclude with a BBQ lunch.  Attendance at this event is mandatory for freshmen and strongly recommended for transfer students. DigiGirlz Day is an opportunity for young women interested in technology careers to participate in workshops and connect with Microsoft employees. It’s free and offered by Microsoft on Aug. 10 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Get the details here.

School resumes August 13, with a 9:30 start time the entire first week.

School pictures will be taken Aug. 15 for Juniors and Sophomores with last names ending in A – L, and Aug. 16 for Freshmen and Sophomore with last names ending in M – Z.

The Parents’ Association will host a Meet-and-Greet on Aug. 21 in the Student Community Center.  Come mingle with faculty and staff, 5 to 6:30 pm.

Senior Sunrise is Aug. 23 at 6:30 am.

There will be no school on Aug. 24 so teachers can attend a Diocesan retreat.

FOOTBALL FUNDRAISERS!

Calling all guys!  Steaks and Stogies is Aug. 18, 5 pm at the Tamarack Junction.  Click here for all the details on how to join the fun!

Moms, Grandmas, and ALL Manogue ladies—don’t let the dads have all the fun supporting the Manogue Football program! Mark your calendars for Gridiron Girls on Sat., Aug. 25, 7pm at Tamarack Junction.  This annual event is an evening of fun, food and laughter with the opportunity to talk with the coaches about all things football.  Tickets are $50 and can be paid the night of the event or paid in advance at the school.  PLEASE RSVP to Lisa Koch at 690-6590 or lisakoch92@gmail.com.  Don’t get a penalty for missing this fun evening!

STAFF APPRECIATION—HELP WANTED!

The Parents’ Association will hold a Staff Appreciation lunch Wed., August 8 at noon, and needs volunteers to help on the day of the lunch.  Set up is at 10:30 am and cleanup will start around 12:45.  They are also seeking donations of the following:

  • ·         hamburger patties
  • ·         American cheese
  • ·         fruit salad
  • ·         potato salad
  • ·         pasta salad
  • ·         cookies
  • ·         hamburger buns
  • ·         chips
  • ·         cases of water and soda. 

Donated items can be dropped off at the office between 7:30 am and 4 pm. Please put your name on the items, and submit receipts so your service hours can be credited properly.  It helps immensely to include your name, your student’s name and grade, and a way to contact you should there be questions.  Finally please send an email to Staff Appreciation chair Sherry Griffin at sgriffin@elucidate-solutions.com to let her know what you plan to bring. Parents’ Association will also be hosting Staff Appreciation Breakfasts throughout the school year and would appreciate assistance for those events as well.  Contact Sherry if you can help.

FALL SPORTS INFORMATION

Below is preseason and tryout information for our Fall Sports.  You can also look for information on our website, www.bishopmanogue.org/athletics.

All students, regardless of skill level, who are interested in joining the Cross Country Team, are encouraged to join summer conditioning sessions.  There will be time trials the first week of school, and Coach Pendola strongly urges all interested athletes to join summer training in order to prepare. This week’s schedule is:

  • ·         7am Tues. at Rancho San Rafael Park for a middle distance run 
  • ·         7am Thurs. at Huffaker Park (off Longley Ln.) for hill repeats 
  • ·         8am Fri. at the south entrance (2nd entrance) to Galena Park to run trails with Galena Cross Country Team 
  • ·         6:30 am Sat. for a long-distance run (varsity athletes only) or trail running; location TBA

Boys’ Soccer has a new Head Coach, CJ. Meert.  Optional training sessions continue on Aug. 6, 7, and 8 from 5:30 to 7:00.Try-outs will be August 13 and 14 from 5pm-7pm, an all students that wish to play the 2012 season are encouraged to attend.  If you have any questions you can contact Coach Meert at  cjmeert@gmail.com or assistant coach Besso at 772-7596 or zacharybesso@yahoo.com.

Girls Golf will hold practices Aug. 6, 7, 8 and 9 from 3 pm to 5 pm, location TBD.

Volleyball tryouts are August 13-15:  Varsity at 6:30 am; JV and Freshmen 3 pm to 5 pm. Players interested in getting in some extra work before tryouts should visit www.nnjvball.com for summer volleyball camp info. 

 

Summer conditioning for the Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Reno Tennis Center on Plumas Ave. according to the following schedule:

Tuesday, Aug 7, 5:30pm-7:00pm

Thursday Aug 9, 7:30am-9:00am

Tryouts will be August 13-15 from 3:15-5:15 pm.  It is highly recommended that interested players spend the spring and summer months on the tennis courts practicing all aspects of their game.  If you have any questions please contact Coach Renee Hinojosa at hinojosa5@sbcglobal.net  or 772-6125.

Tryouts for the Girls’ tennis team will be August 13 at 2:45 pm at Reno Tennis Center, and there will be no conditioning this week.  All players, including returning players, will be required to tryout. For more information contact assistant coach Stephanie Chau at 775-544-1998.

Girls’ Soccer optional training for new and returning players will take place from 7 am to 8:30 am on the following days:  Aug. 7, 8, and 9. Tryouts begin Mon., August 13. Contact amber.gwinn@bishopmanogue.org  for more information. 

Coach Mike Henry will hold informal lacrosse training/practice sessions every other Thursday at 6 pm at Bishop Manogue.  All are welcome. Remaining session date is August 9.  For information or questions email jackie.allen@bishopmanogue.org.

CLASS SCHEDULES

These were mailed to parents and students on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Students should remember to bring their schedules to school the first week to help them get to the right classes.  Locker and Homeroom assignments will be included with the information provided on the class schedules.  It’s a good idea to have your children visit the school prior to the first day of classes to get their lockers organized.  

GOT OLD UNIFORMS?

Help us out by donating them for our International Student Program. We are in need of boys and girls polo shirts in S-M-L as well as uniform slacks and shorts in various sizes.  You can bring used uniforms to the front office.

THE CAMPUS STORE..

…is now open Mon. – Thurs. 10 am to 3 pm.  It will also be open the evenings of Aug. 8 and 9, for parent orientation.
