It’s Labor Day…Enjoy Your Holiday!

GRANDPARENT’S DAY!

All Manogue grandparents and alumni grandparents, current or past, are cordially invited to our first-ever Grandparent’s Day celebration on Sunday Sept. 9.  The evening begins at 5 pm with Mass in the chapel, followed by a reception.  If you’d like to attend, just RSVP to JoAnn Bryant at joann.bryant@bishopmanogue.org. And please pass this invitation on to all the grandparents in your life, so we can let them know that they are a truly special part of the Manogue Family. 

MORE UPCOMING DATES

The first Senior Lunch will be tomorrow Sept. 4.

There will be a Parents’ Association Meeting tomorrow on Sept. 4 at 5:30 at the school.

Senior Parent Night is Sept. 5, 6 pm to 7:30 pm in the Student Community Center. Parents AND students are encouraged to attend this meeting, which will offer valuable information on senior year and navigating the college admissions process.

There will be a delayed start (9:05) on Wed., Sept. 12

Our first weekly Monday Mass will be Sept. 10 at 2:45pm in the Chapel on campus.  All students, staff, and parents are welcome.

Back to School Night is Wed., Sept. 12.  Please check in to your child’s Centered Learning class at 6 pm.   Your child’s class schedule will be distributed at this time.  The Parent’s Association will be hosting a reception prior to the start of Back to School Night at 5:30 in the Student Community Center.  Please stop by and take the time to visit with some of the other Bishop Manogue parents.

There will be a Future Miners pre-game BBQ for families from our diocesan primary schools on Sept. 14, 5 pm.  Please help up spread the word!

St. Teresa of Avila is holding their 15th Annual Basque Festival on Sun., Sept. 16 at Fuji Park in Carson City.  Don’t miss this great day of Basque-style family fun—details and ticket info here!

JIM WILLIAMS MINER GOLF CLASSIC 

This wonderful Manogue tradition is held in memory of the late Jim Williams, past Manogue parent, president, and generous supporter.  Please consider joining the fun on Friday, Sept. 21.  You can get all the details and registration information here!

The Parents’ Association annual Green and Gold Fundraiser is happening Sept. 29.  Don’t miss this truly fun fundraiser, held right here on campus in a casual and relaxed setting.  BONUS this year—buy a ticket, get one service hour…that’s right a service hour for having fun with your friends!  What could be better?  Click here for all the details.

MASS CONFUSION

To clarify, Dennis white oxford shirts can be worn at any time, but are REQUIRED for All-school Mass days only—that is, when freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors all gather for Mass in the gym or at St. Rose of Lima.  Standard uniform policy for the appropriate day applies to individual class Masses, and before or after school Masses. The first All-school Mass where students will be required to wear white oxfords will be the Homecoming Mass on Sept. 21.  If you have any questions, you can contact Patrick Bell at 336-6021or patrick.bell@bishopmanogue.org.

WHAT’S FOR LUNCH?

Access the September lunch menu by visiting www.bishopmanogue.org/students/. Click on “This Month’s Lunch Menu” under the Helpful Links heading.

Students can use either cash or their Student ID’s buy lunch or break items. You can add money to your students debit account via My Backpack or by bringing a check to the front office. Only payments received by 4pm will be available the following business day.

There is a new senior scholarship opportunity posted on our website at www.bishopmanogue.org/business-office/scholarships/graduating-seniors/.

Exploring College Options will host a student/parent informational session on Sun., Sept. 30 at 7:30 pm at the Holiday Inn at 55 East Nugget Avenue in Sparks. Representatives from Georgetown, Duke, Harvard, Penn and Stanford will be on hand. Please register for this event at www.exploringcollegeoptions.org

Washoe County School District will hold a College Fair Nov. 4, 12 – 4 pm at UNR.

CLUB HAPPENINGS

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will be having a carwash fundraiser at Bishop Manogue on Sat., Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The cost for the fund raiser is $10. You can pre-buy a ticket from FBLA member or pay onsite.  For information contact Robin Peri at robin.peri@bishopmanogue.org.

The Boys Lacrosse club team will hold a bake sale at the Sept. 14 varsity football game. Plan to pick up some treats and support the team. There are also some fall lacrosse opportunities in the area.  If you’d like to know more about them, contact Jackie Allen at jackie.allen@bishopmanogue.org

PARENT SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are needed at football and soccer games throughout the season.  Click here to see times and duties available.

The Diocesan School Board’s Faith Formation Committee is collaborating with the Faith Formation Office in the Diocese to develop a free, online faith formation source for busy parents.  For information on how to take part click here.
