Junior Class Service Hours Opportunity:
Juniors help a charity that gives out scholarships and does work locally. The Soroptimists of Truckee Meadows runs a booth at the Reno Air Races. They are looking for help. Sign up for a morning or afternoon shift and then enjoy the air races. Shifts available on Sept 11-15th. 7 to 1pm or 12 to 6 pm shifts. Freshman, Sophomore or Senior Service Hour Opportunities:
Students needed to build lunches for the homeless at the Friar’s Pantry. For three hours or work you help the homeless. Need 7 to 10 students. Please contact Deacon Richard Ramm at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral phone 775-329-2571 Ext: 227 or email -richardr@stacathedral.com.
Freshman and Junior Service Opportunity:
Freshmen and Junior opportunity to work the “Plates for Poverty” event on September 26th for Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. The 6-8 students will work from 5 to 8pm selling raffle tickets and helping with auctions. For more information contact Jim Williams 775 322-7073 ext. 222.
Children’s Cabinet is looking for 24 helpers for the September 13th fundraiser called The Art of Childhood Gala at the Governor’s Mansion.
Sophomore and Junior Service Opportunity:
Finally for some dedicated sophomores or juniors, two students are in need of some one on one attention. Recommended for those interested in Early Childhood education. You will be assisting to girls starting in Sept and running until May on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30. Junior Class Service Opportunity:
Volunteers needed to help with a tournament whose proceeds go to developing the sport of waterpolo for the local Reno youth. They need volunteers to work at the scorer’s tables (both boys and girls games) and to work at the entrance gate on the west side of Idlewild pool. The tournament starts on Friday, Sept 6 at 8am with the final game starting at 7pm. On Saturday we get started earlier, 7am and go until 4pm. Volunteers can contact Rich Wait at his email address or call on cell phone, 775 848-3216 to explain when you would be available.
Drama Club Info
Calling all actors, directors, and stage hands. There will be a brief informational meeting of the drama club on Wednesday immediately after school in the music room. Come have some pizza and find out what is in store for our theater program this year. Come check it out if you are new or not sure you want to join. Cross country people, just come by for a quick sign in so Mrs. Lazarus can find out who is interested in doing a play this fall.
Bye Bye Birdie is playing this weekend at Bartley Ranch. Come support Neige Siridachanon and Grace Ring as they sing and dance their hearts out in this wonderful show about a rock star teen idol who is drafted into the army and travels to a little town in Ohio to kiss one of his fans goodbye.
