Auditions for Singers and Actors and Dancers!
Auditions for the Spring play and musical numbers will take place on Thursday February 6 in the music room starting at 3pm. If you want to be in the play or musical numbers, you MUST be at auditions. And don’t forget to cast your vote for the play at the audition. It’s between “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to 5th Period” and “Cinderella, the Untold Story”. And, if we have enough actor/singers, we hope to do scenes and musical numbers from” Grease” and “Hairspray”. For more information see Mrs. Lazarus.

Juniors interested in multimedia technology
UNR is offering a Multimedia Bootcamp for a select group Northern Nevada high school students between their junior and senior year. The camp will be help June 9th-19th in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center at UNR. The program provides students with access to training in a full range of multimedia equipment and software. UNR is looking for students with the greatest potential and interest in the field. Potential candidates must also have the ability to be admitted to UNR. The applicant must be nominated and the packet is due by Friday, March 28th. Please see Ms. McClintock in you’re interested in this program .
Attention Juniors!!
If you are interested in participating in an essay contest sponsored by the University of Portland, please pick up instructions from Ms. McClintock. There is a potential to win either $250 for honorable mention or $500 for the winning essay. The competition Is open to all Catholic schools in Idaho, Nevada, Oregon , Utah and Washington. The deadline for submission of your essay to Ms. McClintock is Monday, February 24th.

Nevada Youth Empowerment project
Nevada Youth Empowerment project is looking for students to act in their behalf as outreachers. You would be advertising by going to places where young people are (mall, movies, river, citicenter, college, schools, downtown, etc) and hand out bracelets and flyers and put up posters to get the word out about the Homeless youth count event. Sophomore Service hours
Perfect hours for Sophomores: Help organize for a large charity rummage sale at Livestock Convention center. Event is on March 1st 8am to 4pm. Also this Doctor’s Wives group could use help setting up for event from Feb 24 to 28th -8 to 4pm. Contact Jana Haley at 775 530-0250.
Boys & Girls club of Truckee Meadows is looking for new volunteers.
They require an orientation held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 5:00 at our main location (2680 E. 9th St. Reno, NV 89512). If they are over 18 years old, we do have to fingerprint them in order to run a background check. Once oriented, help them with many special events. Plus build a relationship with a great charity by volunteering regularly during the week – Monday – Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm or Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm. We have 19 locations so they will have plenty to do. An event coming up on Wednesday, March 26th that they would love to have as many juniors and seniors attend as possible. This is our Boys & Girls Nite Out and is held from 4:00-7:00. We match one volunteer per child and they play carnival games and have dinner together so it is a pretty fun volunteer opportunity! Catholic Heart Workcamp
Catholic Heart Workcamp is a 4 day summer service camp held here at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. Cost is $250.00- earn all your year’s required service hours but the 5 required during school year. You work during the day and have Christian fellowship in the evening. Talk to Cobb to still sign up.
Diocesan Youth Rally
The Diocese of Reno has a youth rally called Epic Connect. Students interested in attending the event on February 28th and March 1st should contact their church’s youth minister. If no youth minister exists, please sign up with Mr. Cobb through BMCHS.
Food Bank’s annual CANstruction – March 26 thru 30
The Food Bank’s annual CANstruction program will be held March 26-30, 2014 at Meadowood Mall. Bishop Manogue should create a team to help fill the shelves of the food bank by building a sculpture solely out of canned food products. Tutoring Opportunity
Little Flower students need one on one tutoring help. The volunteers would tutor 2nd through 8th grade students. Available days and times are Monday thru Thursday 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Have about 20 students in need. For more information contact Mrs. Russell at krussell@littleflowerschoolnv.org.

Sophomore and Junior Service Opportunity:
Finally for some dedicated sophomores or juniors, two students are in need of some one on one attention. Recommended for those interested in Early Childhood education. You will be assisting girls starting in Sept and running until May on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30. Ski Team Basque Dinner Fundraiser THIS EVENING, January 31
The ski teams will hold Basque Dinner fundraiser Jan 31 at the Santa Fe Hotel—dinner, silent auction and lots of fun. See Mrs. Gant or any ski team member for tickets.
Lacrosse Information
Boys Lacrosse practices will begin TOMORROW, Feb. 1. Practice will run from 10 am to 12, with a break from 12- 1, and then from 1 pm to 3 pm. All returning players and all boys interested in joining the team should be there. If you have questions see Mrs. Allen.

The Boys and Girls Lacrosse programs are raffling off a REAL Ms Pac-Man /Galaga arcade game! Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20. They are available in Mrs. Allen’s office, where you can also test out the machine! The winner will be picked at the Lacrosse Jamboree to be held here at Manogue on March 1.
