Good News
Sophomore Eric Verhey was PERFECT in this year’s National French Test. That’s right, he had a PERFECT paper, making him best in the State, and best in the Nation. Congratulations to him and his (practically) perfect professor, Madame Righetti! Picture here.

Violinists Shelby Kolesar and Tanner Hood have been invited to attend Voyageurs International’s Nevada Ambassadors of Music European Concert Tour. The group tours and performs in seven countries during their 16-day trip.

Bishop Manogue will be taking 12 student athletes to compete in the Northern Nevada Weightlifting Championships on Fri., May 29 at Reno High School’s main gym. The Varsity Team will be led by Wes Farnsworth, Casey Trosclair, Adrian Luna and Jordan Dicus; varsity lifting will start at 6pm. The Junior Varsity Team will feature sophomores Mo Aparicio and Nikko Hamlin. The freshmen class will be represented by Angelo Reviglio, Nick Fischer, Carlo Zamboni, Austen Chu and Dafydd Herico. And sophomore Kayla Gilkeson will represent Manogue in the female division. JV and girls lifting will start at 2pm. Good luck lifters and go, Miners!

Our Divers were tops at State yet again! Allyson Concepcion won State in 1 meter diving, with a new state record of 519.15. and right behind her was teammate Makenzie Caufield whose score of 513.10 also broke the old record!
In Swimming, the girls team came in 4th overall at State, and 1st for Northern Nevada teams! There were great individual performances from both boys and girls:
- 2nd 100 Breaststroke: Donna DePolo 1:03.53— breaks Manogue school record and qualifies her for All-American consideration
- 3rd 100 Backstroke: Madi Hurst 58.63—Breaks Manogue school record
- 3rd 100 Butterfly: Kyle Curtis 53.99
- 5th 200 Medley Relay: Presley Peterson, Emma Keenan, Megan Gephart, Donna DePolo 1:55.41
- 5th 100 Butterfly: Megan Gephart 1:00.37
- 6th 400 Free Relay: Megan Gephart, Julia Frediani, Allison Kulikowski, Donna DePolo
- 6th 500 Freestyle: Donna DePolo 5:16.42
- 6th 500 Freestyle: Kyle Curtis 4:57.98
- 7th 500 Freestyle: Megan Gephart 5:27.59
- 7th 200 Individual Medley: Kyle Johnson 2:03.69
Our Track and Field athletes also performed very well at State in Las Vegas:
- Marin Zaccheo competed in the 100m, 200m and 400m—the only athlete in the meet to do that—finishing 2nd, 4th, and 2nd respectively. She was voted the Division I Runner of the Year!
- Alyssa Viola matched her personal best and finished 3rd in the Pole vault
- Logan Spodabolski finished 4th in the 1600m and 6th in the 800m, breaking the Manogue school record for that event set in 1991 with a time of 1:55.63.
- Adrian Luna finished 7th in discus
- Nate Shapiro finished 8th in the open 100m
- Ruthie Griggs came in 8th in the 100m
Boys Lacrosse lost the State Championship qualifying game to Green Valley by just a single point. They finished with their first-ever League Championship, however, and their first-year coach Eric Peacock was named our area’s first-ever U.S. Lacrosse Coach of the Year. All around a great season of firsts for the team.

Mrs. Righetti begins her trekking in support of Tuition Assistance TODAY! She’s walking the 380-mile Camino Portuguese from Lisbon to Santiago finishing on the Atlantic coast at Finisterra. Summer Hours
Office hours from June 1 through August 5 will be 7 am to 2 pm, Monday – Thursday. The office will be closed the week of June 29 – July 3.
Summer Reading
All Manogue students, except incoming English 9 Regular students, have a summer reading requirement for the 2015-2016 school year. This year, in addition to reading the assigned novel(s), students are also required to complete a summer reading assignment. Every 9th, 10th, and 11th grade student received a hardcopy of this assignment in their English class. Reading assignments are also posted on the Academics Page of the Manogue website. Students need to turn in their completed summer reading assignment on the first day of English class next year.
Parent Service Hour Opportunities
We need two parents to help with parking control at Graduation on Sat., May 30. Volunteers would be on duty from 4 pm to approximately 5:15 pm. Hours can be applied to this year, or to next year. Contact Bonnie Hansen at bonnie.hansen@bishopmangoue.org if you’re interested.
Bank Some Christian Service Hours
The Women of St. Rose are hosting a Tea Party on Sun, June 28 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. They are looking for some female student volunteers to serve and clean up. Contact Roxana Borne at 714-865-9259, call or text.
Great hours opportunity for next year’s Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors: Regent Care Center, a long term care facility, is looking for volunteers to spend time with residents. Volunteers must first attend a third Tuesday of the month orientation from 3:30 pm to 4:15pm. One Big Reunion
Bishop Manogue is holding its first All-School Reunion on June 20 at 5pm on the Alumni Patio. Saturday’s Party on the Patio will feature the Jason King Band (Jason Roxas King ’88) and a yummy BBQ dinner by Roundabout Catering. Please spread the word to alumni and alumni families! AP Score Information
AP students can get their exam scores online in July. To get AP scores students must sign up for a College Board account at www.apscore.org. The score access schedule is also available there. If your student took an AP exam last year or has ever registered for the SAT, they may already have a College Board account. Students will receive an email in July at the email address they put on their AP answer sheet reminding them how and when to access their scores.
