2019/2020 Academic Calendar

First off, thank you to the calendar planning committee for working to develop the Bishop Manogue Catholic High School 2019/2020 Academic Calendar. Based on the feedback from faculty, staff, parents and students, we’ve produced a balanced calendar that we hope will serve the learning and co-curricular needs of our students and families.

Important highlights for the 2019/2020 Academic Calendar

SCHOOL START/END DATES

First day of school: August 19, 2019
The official first day of school will begin on Monday, August 19, 2019. This date is one week after the Washoe County School District start date and one week before the start date of our Diocesan partner schools. Note that professional development days for staff and teachers will begin on August 12, 2019.

Last day of school + BMCHS 2020 Graduation: May 29, 2020
The final day of school for the 2019/2020 academic calendar will be on Friday, May 29, 2020. This will also be when the graduation ceremony for the class of 2020 will take place.

BREAKS

Fall break: October 7-11, 2019
A one-week fall break will occur at the same time as the Washoe County School District’s fall break on October 7-11, 2019. We feel this is a healthy opportunity for students and faculty to recharge after 8 weeks of instruction. This is also an opportune time for students to prepare college applications, plan college visits and spend time with their families. 

Winter break: December 23, 2019-January 3, 2020
There will be a two-week winter break beginning Monday, December 23, 2019 and ending Friday, January 3, 2020-with school resuming on Monday, January 6, 2020. The winter break dates coincide with Washoe County School District and our Diocesan partner schools. 

As an added benefit to students and faculty, all final exams will take place before winter break.

Spring break: March 23-27, 2020
There will be a one-week spring break March 23-27, 2020. This break coincides with the second week of Washoe County School District’s two-week spring break.

Summer Break: June 1, 2020- August 14, 2020
Summer Break 2020 will be 11 weeks. We look forward to offering this extended summer break to allow students additional time to participate in summer internships, work summer jobs and attend co-curricular and collegiate camps.

November 11, 2019: Veterans Day
November 28, 2019: Thanksgiving
November 29, 2019: Family Day

April 10, 2020: Good Friday
April 13, 2020: Holy Monday (observed)
May 25, 2020: Memorial Day
