Scholarship Value – Up to $1,000, non-renewable

The Alan Charles Oppio Memorial Scholarship fund was created by donations from family and friends in memory of Alan Charles Oppio, beloved father, brother, friend and third generation northern Nevadan. Alan and many of his family and Friends are Bishop Manogue alumni. While attending Bishop Manogue Alan was an all-state basketball player. After graduating from Bishop Manogue he went on to play basketball for one year at the University of Nevada before joining the Army in 1961. To honor the memory of Alan a scholarship was created to benefit incoming and currently enrolled male students. Several merit-based scholarships will be awarded annually; therefore, no Smart Aid application is required. The Oppio family will be involved in the selection of recipients.

All candidates must meet the following Bishop Manogue requirements for scholarship eligibility:
1. Have acceptable standards of behavior as set in the Bishop Manogue Parent/Student Handbook.
2. Be current with Bishop Manogue Christian Service Hour requirements.

Specific requirements for this scholarship are:
1. Hold a minimum GPA of 2.75.

If at any time during the award year the student does not maintain acceptable standards of behavior as set in the Bishop Manogue Parent/Student Handbook and/or a minimum GPA of 2.75, this scholarship can be withdrawn.
