Scholarship Value – Up to $1,000 (each to one graduating boy and girl)

Carl W. Andersen was born in Elko, Nevada on October 30, 1940. He attended school in Elko and at the University of Utah. In 1983, he and his partner started Peavine Construction, Inc. He worked as a construction estimator there for more than 40 years and was still active in the company at the time of his death on August 20, 2010.

Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time at his home in Elko County in the Ruby Mountains near Jiggs. Although he was not an athlete himself, he enjoyed watching basketball and football and coached his daughters’ youth softball teams. Carl was a big supporter of youth activities and was always pleased to hear of a local young person’s success story. The Andersen family will be involved in the selection of recipients.
