The following information outlines specific protocols and protective measures established by Bishop Manogue High School to promote the health and safety of Bishop Manogue Students, Faculty, Staff, and Visitors as they return to school for the 2021/2022 school year. Bishop Manogue intends to fully comply with any regulations and safety mandates issued by local health and government officials. As policies and procedures change, this document will be updated to reflect the current safety measures enforced by the school.

Dual Environment Learning

  • All classrooms are equipped to allow for in-person instruction and virtual instruction simultaneously.  
  • For a minimum of the first four weeks of school, we will use a dual environment/alternating day system. This will allow us time to test our protocols, educate our students, and manage our new health and safety protocols with smaller numbers of students.  The alternating day system will be as follows:

In-person meetings with faculty: 

  • No in-person parent/teacher, counselor/parent conferences – all held virtually 

Assignments/Grading/Work

  • There will be no paper assignments*
  • All assignments will be completed and turned in to Google Classroom
    • *There may be some paperwork and teachers will accommodate the virtual learners when needed 

Release Times 

  • Release times have changed in order to accommodate students learning virtually (by social distancing requirement from the government or health district) returning to school activities and practice as allowable in the afternoon. 

Additional Assistance 

  • All students may seek help and/or assistance during Miner Block.  We ask students to make an appointment with the teacher they wish to see beforehand so we may account for the number of people in the building if we are required to do so. 

Building Entry Protocols 

Student Arrival Times

  • Students may arrive at school no earlier than 7:35AM
  • Students must depart campus immediately when school is dismissed at 2:18PM. Loitering and socializing in the halls and the parking lot prohibited

Visitors

No visitors are permitted on campus at any time. 

Faculty Entry 

  • All faculty must enter through their assigned entry each day. 
  • All faculty must complete a health history form, on-site temperature check, complete hand sanitization and arrive between 7:00am-7:15am. 

Student Entry 

  • All students must enter through their assigned entry door each day they are on campus. To enter campus students must: 
    • Complete a health history form via the BMCHS App
    • Wear a mask/face covering before entering the building 
      • A cloth face mask with earloops is required. Bandanas and neck gators are not appropriate face masks and are not permissible
      • Facemasks must be compliant with uniform and school policy and may not feature any offensive language or imagery.
    • Sanitize/wash hands upon entry 
    • Remain socially distanced at the assigned entrance for an on-site temperature check 

Attendance Protocol

  • There will be no formal attendance window
  • Tardy students must be health checked prior to being admitted to the school
  • One of the health team members will check the student and send him/her directly to class

In-Building School Day Protocol 

Bathroom Protocol

  • Students may use the bathroom during the school day
  • No bathroom passes will be used – students will be issued digital hallway passes
  • Bathrooms will be monitored during passing periods, break, and lunch to eliminate crowding

If A Student is Sick in the Middle of the Day Protocol

  • Teachers are instructed to call the dedicated line immediately
  • Teacher to allow the student feeling ill to step into the hallway with an open door so they can remain monitored 
  • An administrator or designated medical team member will come to get the student 
  • An administrator will direct the class to a sanitized location
  • A cleaning team will sanitize the classroom

Lockers & Textbooks

  • Lockers will not be used or assigned during this time
  • All textbooks will be available electronically. Students have the option to bring hard copy textbooks to campus but must know that there will not be lockers to store them. Additionally, teachers will not be required to use hard-copy textbooks during on-campus instruction. 

Knowledge Center Protocol

  • The Knowledge Center will be closed except for access to IT help. No shared computer/table/chair use will be permitted

Common Areas Protocol

  • No use until otherwise notified
  • Congregating is prohibited in the: 
    • Gyms, Student Community Center, Knowledge Center, Main Office Lobby
  • The Chapel is reserved for class Mass only, students must maintain social distance while celebrating Mass

Outside Areas Protocol

  • Masks may be taken off if 6 feet is maintained outdoors
  • Students must maintain social distancing while outdoors

Water Station Protocol

  • Students may use refillable water stations
  • Drinking fountains will be disabled

Visitor and Volunteer Protocol

  • There will be no student or parent volunteer requirements for the 2020/2021 school year
  • No visitors until otherwise noted
  • If leaving items for a student, they must be clearly labeled and placed in a cubby in the front office
  • No drop-in visits for anything other than a crisis emergency are permitted

Shared Activities

  • There will be no parties, sharing of food, or gatherings until otherwise noted
  • The main office mailroom is closed
  • Mail will be delivered to the prep rooms
  • Only the main office staff will share the refrigerator
  • Teachers will use the refrigerators in their prep rooms or bring their lunch in a cooler
  • Only the main office staff will share the microwave
  • Teachers will use the microwaves in their prep rooms
  • There will not be communal office coffee or dishes
  • There will not be shared candy/treat dishes
