Scholarship Value – Up to $500, non-renewable

This scholarship in memory of Daniel Loren Gardner (February 2, 1963 – October 20, 2011) is to be awarded
to a Bishop Manogue student who lives in Reno with preference given to N. Valley, Sun Valley Lemon Valley,
Panther Valley, Golden Valley, Stead, Cold Springs.

Daniel “Danny” Gardner was a proud graduate of Bishop Manogue’s Class of 1981 and was defined by his
Catholic heritage and faith. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Knights of Columbus,
and found great comfort in praying the rosary and attending daily Mass. His other defining characteristic was
his work ethic ~ he was not the best craftsman, but always the hardest worker. He was hired by UPS in
college and remained there for 28 years until his death. At Manogue, he played football and was a thrower on
the Track and Field Team. After high school, he took up running, biking and swimming which naturally led
him to participate in triathlons. He lived a bachelor’s life but was adopted as a member of the family by many.
While he lived a life of discipline, he brought the fun to the party. His family and friends benefited from his
love of life and his thirst to live every moment with which God blessed him. He would want each of us to truly
live life, work our hardest each day, and love God with undying devotion.
