Scholarship Value – Up to $1,000, non-renewable

This one-time scholarship for an incoming freshman honors the memory of Msgr. Benedict Williams. A teenage convert from the Mormon faith, Msgr. Williams was ordained a Catholic priest in 1960. He spent twenty-eight of his twenty-nine years on the Bishop Manogue faculty until his death in July 1989. He lived at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral where he was constantly a beacon of hope and counselor for any teenager in the community. Regardless of their religious beliefs, kids knew they could come to him anytime for advice. Music was Msgr. Williams’s passion. From his teenage years playing the cello in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, he went on to compose, direct the choir, and become a master pianist and organist during his time in the priesthood.
