Teacher-Math Dept.

"I am the product of a Catholic education. I attended Our Lady of the Snows Elementary School for 7 years.  When I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, my first teaching job was at Loretto High School in Sacramento. It was then that I realized Catholic schools were for me. I have been teaching at Bishop Manogue for 35 years, and I have enjoyed every day.

In March of this year, I had the wonderful experience of tagging along with the AP French students to Paris during spring break. Every day was perfect. There were so many memorable moments, but the one that sticks out is the night we attended a French Mass at 10:00 pm at Sacre Coeur in the Montmarte area of Paris. One of our students suggested we light a candle at the end of Mass for Nico Goon, a 2024 Bishop Manogue graduate who died tragically a few months prior. Nico went on this same Paris trip two years ago. The entire group lit a candle for him and said a special prayer in his honor. It was a testament to Nico, but also to the students who thought to remember him in this special way.

I have taught here for so long now that I am now teaching students of my former students. I call these kids my “grandstudents”–I have 7 this year, and taught both the mother and father of one of them! I think this alone says great things about Bishop Manogue—former students think so highly of Bishop Manogue, they are now sending their own children here. Hopefully, I played a small part in this decision."
